An Evening in Tokyo

The Japan America Society of Chicago (JASC) proudly presents “A Night in Tokyo” featuring Taikoza, a New York-based group specializing in rhythms of the ancestral Japanese Taiko drums and bamboo flutes on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, at 6 p.m., with a reception catered by Gaijin immediately after. Drawing from Japan’s rich tradition of music and performance, Taikoza has created a new sound using a variety of traditional instruments. In addition to drums of assorted sizes, Taikoza incorporates the Shakuhachi and the Fue (both bamboo flutes) and colorful dances.
