The Al-Sadiq mosque is one of the first mosques built in the United States and former headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. It was completed in 1922 and is the oldest mosque still operating in the U.S. today. The original structure was a two-story home purchased by Mufti Muhammad Sadiq, a companion of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Mufti Sadiq was the first Ahmadi Missionary to come to America in 1920, initially settling in Philadelphia. He made his way to the Midwest eventually settling in Chicago where he started the Muslim Sunrise, the longest running Muslim publication in America. The teachings of the Ahmadiyyat Muslim Community brought people of all races and ethnicities to the mosque which became a fixture in the community. During the last 100+ years the Al-Sadiq mosque has served as a meeting place for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Though maintenance was done regularly there was a point where the original townhome structure needed to be replaced. In 1994, the current mosque was built in its place, and the interior was renovated in late 2025-early 2026. Visitors can explore the mosque and view information on its history as well as the history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Members will be on hand to give a brief introduction of the site and also answer any questions.
