Boxville at Open House Chicago

Boxville is Chicago's first shipping container market. What began in 2014 with one repurposed shipping container offering seasonal bike repair on a vacant lot at 51st Street and the CTA Green Line, has grown into a colorful collection of 20+ containers offering an assortment of delicious food, local crafts, and a range of wellness products produced by local entrepreneurs within a fun and music-filled marketplace. Boxville received the inaugural MacArthur Foundation Placemaking Award in 2019 for its role in transforming 51st Street, and it continues to grow today. All or most shipping container-based enterprises will be open and accessible to visitors. There will also be a range of activities, including music, open air cooking, and more.
