Gary Comer Youth Center at Open House Chicago

The Gary Comer Youth Center (GCYC) is recognized as one of the nation’s most unique youth-serving organizations. GCYC prepares young people to confidently lead in and out of the classroom and to become well-rounded global citizens through diverse programs, wraparound services, and career exploration opportunities. In addition to the 80,000 square foot facility, which features athletic facilities, a rooftop garden, a dance studio and a Best Buy Teen Tech Center, Gary Comer Youth Center also operates a 2-acre teaching farm. In the full commercial kitchen, young people interested in the culinary arts learn to prepare and serve nutritious high-quality meals. At GCYC, young people’s passion, talent, and laughter strengthen communities and empower brighter futures. Visitors will receive a guided tour of the Youth Center, including the cafe, gym/auditorium, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, Dance Studio, Exhibition Hall and Rooftop Garden. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the GCYC farm, just across the street.
