Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
NoMo is a Chicago events discovery app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the product needs, we don't sell it, and you can see it or delete it yourself, in the app, anytime.
What we collect
- Account info. Your name and either an email address or a phone number, used to create and sign in to your account. With Google or Apple sign-in we receive your name and email from them, nothing else. Phone sign-in sends a one-time code via our SMS provider; we store the number, never the code.
- Preferences. The interests, neighborhoods, and accounts you pick so we can build your feed.
- Optional demographics. Age range and gender are optional, are used to keep age-restricted events pointed at the right people and to understand who NoMo serves, and can be changed or removed anytime in Account settings. Partners only ever see anonymous, aggregated numbers, never your individual answers.
- Your activity in the app. The accounts you follow and the events you save, mark as going to, or tap, so we can personalize recommendations.
- Push tokens. If you turn notifications on, we store the anonymous device token Apple issues so we can send the alerts you asked for. Turning notifications off in the app or in iOS settings stops them.
- Searches. Search terms you enter (without identifying you) so we can learn what events people want and fill gaps.
- Technical logs. Standard server logs (including IP address) kept briefly for security and debugging by our hosting provider.
- Location. If you use "Nearby" or the map, your location is used on your device to sort events by distance. It is not transmitted to our servers.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party ad networks.
- We never give venues, promoters, or any partner your name, contact info, or device tokens. If we ever run clearly-labeled sponsored placements, partners receive aggregate reporting only.
- We do not post anything to your social accounts.
How event data is sourced
Events shown in NoMo are aggregated from public sources (venue sites, ticketing platforms, and public social posts). We link back to the original listing for tickets and details.
Service providers
We use Vercel (hosting), Neon (managed Postgres for account and activity data), Twilio (SMS sign-in codes), Apple (push notifications and optional sign-in), and Google (optional sign-in). These providers process data only to run NoMo.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. Deleting your account removes your profile, saves, follows, and preferences immediately and permanently; anonymous push device records are unlinked and expire on their own. Server logs rotate on our hosting provider's standard short schedule.
Your choices
- See your data: Account settings → Your data → Download my data.
- Delete your account: Account settings → Your data → Delete my account, or see the deletion page.
- Edit or remove demographics: Account settings → About you.
- Notifications: toggle in the app or in system settings.
Children
NoMo is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 to create an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 16 we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the date above when we do.
